THE Slieve Bloom Association looked back over a busy 2024 during the club's recent meeting.
Chairman John Rigney went through a list of some of the good work which was carried out by the members during the year.
“As part of the work we undertook this year,” he said, “we cleaned around Capard, cutting trees, bushes and briars.
“At the Giant's Grave, at the back end of the year, we did a lot of strimming. We washed down the signs. We put down a pipe and clay to get the water away from the entrance.
“In Glen Kitt near Camross we cleaned around the well, whitewashed the wall and trimmed the bushes.
“At Leitir in Cadamstown we cleaned the well, which turned out to be a big job. We cleaned it out and dug a trench to let the water off.
“We also cleaned the well in Cumber Kinnitty and put new seating around it.
“The well at the old Tinnahinch school was cleaned, as well as the well on the Mountmellick to Clonaslee Road outside Poole's Garage.
“At the Fanning Pass we scrubbed down the monument and cut a number of bushes.
“All of this work was carried out by Christy Conroy, Michael and Ann Gleeson, Danny Lynch, John Rigney and Patrick, Mary, Molly and Emily Casey.
“Our Annual General Meeting will take place in mid January. Anyone who wishes to join can contact any member of the Association.
“I want to wish everyone in the group and in the wider Slieve Bloom region a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
