General sadness in Birr following passing of leading businessman

The late John McKeown

THERE was general sadness in the town of Birr last week when it became known that the death had occurred of John McKeown, Birr.
John, formerly of Aughafatten, County Antrim passed away on May 2nd, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.
He was predeceased by his twin sisters, Margaret and Ann.
He will be sadly missed by his much-loved wife, Pauline; daughters, Annette and Deborah; son Stephen; daughter-in-law Gráinne and adored grandchildren Seán and Cillian.
John will also be missed by his sister and brother, Marese and David, and his wide network of friends and colleagues.
May He Rest In Peace.
John was a passionate businessman who thrived when working with others and achieved great success with his business Romaquip.
He was the founder and Managing Director of Romaquip.
He had fought a long battle against cancer for many years.
Romaquip is a very successful company. It manufactures and supplies superior quality Stainless Steel winter road maintenance equipment, such as salt gritters and salt spreaders.
John lived in Birr for many years before moving to Mucklagh in recent times.
He was laid to rest in Clonoghill Cemetery in Birr on Friday following mass in St Brendan's Church.
