Met Eireann forecast hail and thunder as Ireland on alert for blast of wet and windy weather

Ireland is bracing for a rough few days of weather with Met Eireann forecasting hail, thunder and a blast of wet and windy weather in the coming days. 

According to Met Eireann, the weather is going to be generally unsettled but with some dry and sunny spells, especially on Saturday.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, it will become wet and windy tonight, as rain extends northwards over the country and fresh to strong southerly winds develop. There'll be some heavy falls of rain at times, possibly causing spot flooding. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.

The latest Met Eireann weather forecast says that it will be wet and windy on Friday morning, with widespread rain and fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds. Some heavy falls of rain may cause spot flooding. The rain will gradually clear eastwards during the afternoon, followed by sunny spells and well scattered showers, and winds will decrease moderate to fresh southwesterly. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.

Plenty of dry and clear weather on Friday night but there'll be a few showers in Atlantic coastal counties. Cooler than previous nights with lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees in a moderate southwest breeze.

Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in moderate southwest winds. A dry start on Saturday night but cloud will thicken overnight and rain will push eastwards across the country soon after midnight. An increasingly windy night with strong to gale force southerly winds developing. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees, occurring early in the night.

The rain will gradually clear eastwards during the afternoon with scattered showers following from the west. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in strong to gale force southwest winds. Clear spells and scattered showers on Sunday night, the showers most frequent in the west. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees in fresh southwest winds.

Met Eireann is forecasting that the weather will be fresh and blustery on Monday with sunny spells and showers. Some of the showers will be heavy with hail and thunder possible. Maximum temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in fresh and gusty west to southwest winds.
