A man from Edenderry pleaded guilty to a hit and run incident during last week's sitting of Tullamore District Court.

Shane Malone, Ard Teach, Murphy's Road, Edenderry was charged with failing to remain at the scene – damage to property, no driving licence and no insurance at Monasteroris, Edenderry on October 9, 2024.

Sergeant Brendan Kearns told the court that at 1am on October 9, 2024 the Gardaí received a report of a car crash during which a car crashed into a wall on the side of the road and the driver fled the scene.

Mr Malone had three previous convictions, including possession of drugs, obstruction of a Garda and no insurance.

The defending barrister said Mr Malone is 24 years of age and is on Jobseeker's Allowance. Judge Andrew Cody convicted and fined €1,300 for all three offences and disqualified from driving for four years.
