Louise Checa at her garden at Bord Bia Bloom 2025
AN Offaly garden designer was one of eight gold medal winners awarded to show garden designers as Bord Bia Bloom in the Phoenix Park this week.
The Citroën Downsizers’ Garden, designed by Louise Checa and sponsored by Citroën Ireland, picked up the award for Best Planting in the medium section.
Originally from France but now living in Offaly, Louise's garden provides inspiration for those downsizing their homes and gardens.
The garden, inspired by and featuring the new Citroën Ami, is designed for downsizers and highlights how our needs evolve in tune with our lifestyles and life stages. It demonstrates how even in a relatively small space, it is possible to enhance comfort, improve wellbeing, encourage mobility and social interactions, and increase sustainability.
All 21 show gardens showcased at this year's festival are designed with sustainability in mind and incorporate environmental measures.
