ARTHUR Crawford will be Guest of Honour for Roscrea’s 44th St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Arthur has been involved on the committee for over 30 years and his input especially on the day as Chief Marshall of the floats always ensures, even when under pressure, the smooth running of the Roscrea St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Arthur is also a very committed committee member and selflessly involves himself in the months before each Parade in its preparation which ensures that the town has the best possible St Patrick’s Day Parade on the day. Thus it is fitting that Arthur should be Guest of Honour for this year’s parade.
Roscrea Parade
Courtesy of the Parade Committee there will be face painting outside Shaw’s from 1.30pm – 3.30pm. Watch out for Mickey and Minnie Mouse and the PJ Masks heroes who will be roaming around the streets to greet all the children and take photos with them from 3pm-4pm.
The Parade commences at 3.30pm and will include the Thomas McDonagh Pipe Band and the Theresa Larkin School of Music.There are a number of floats entering the parade in the following categories:- Best Overall Entry: Chamber of Commerce Perpetual Trophy and €200 sponsored by Roscrea Chamber of Commerce, Best Business Float – Lupton & Associates Perpetual Trophy, Best local community group/sports club – Roscrea Tidy Towns Trophy, Special Recognition Award - Roscrea Credit Union Perpetual Trophy, Special Merit Award – St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. There will be a designated area for people with reduced mobility beside the Review Stand on Main Street.
Shop Window Competition
The Organising Committee are also this year holding its annual Shop Window competition with 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes, the winners of which will be announced from the Review Stand.
Entry to the parade is free and the Organising Committee are inviting individuals, groups, organisations, clubs, businesses, novelty items and community interest groups to enter floats and add to the diversity of the parade.
