'At long last' - Offaly road to finally re-open after months of disruption

An Offaly road closed since the summer will finally re-open this week.

The R400 between Rhode and Rochfortbridge was closed back in July after a bridge collapse.

The collapse of the bridge over the Yellow river near Rhode has necessitated the closure of the R400, the road which connects the Offaly village with Rochfortbridge and is the direct route to the Dublin-Galway motorway.

After a number of delays held up the works, the road will re-open on Friday.

Cllr Noel Cribbin said: "And that’s official folks, at long last the Rhode to Rochfortbridge will be reopened. Thanks to all motorists, residents for their patience in what was a long and challenging journey. Road opening this Friday, November 17 at 12 pm.

Offaly County Council has also confirmed the news of the reopening.
