Man with 57 previous convictions given suspended sentence for stealing money from house in Tullamore

A MAN who stole €550 in cash had 57 previous convictions, 22 for theft, Tullamore District Court heard last week.

On July 12, 2021, Christopher Rice, Ferrybank, Waterford, stole the money from the home of a woman at Cloncollig, Tullamore.

His solicitor said Christopher Rice is currently serving a sentence imposed in Monaghan court.

He described the defendant as a 32 year old man. He didn't recall the incident and the property had been recovered. His previous convictions had gone back a number of years and the last was in 2016.

His brother had died around the time of the offence.

Judge Cody imposed a sentence of three months in prison which he suspended for one year. Legal aid was granted.
