Woman in court for dangerous driving and driving over the alcohol limit in Offaly
A woman convicted of dangerous driving and driving over the alcohol limit came before Judge Catherine Staines at Tullamore district court.
On April 12, 2021, Bernie Geraghty (63) Glenanail Drive, Riverside, Galway came to garda attention when other drivers spotted her driving over the white line at Drumbane, Birr, and Riverstown, Birr. Gardai stopped her on the Military Road, in Birr.
A blood sample revealed an alcohol level of 185 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood. Ms Geraghty had three previous convictions for road traffic offences.
Her solicitor told the court she had issues with alcohol and was attending AA meetings twice a day. She is also on medication for depression.
Judge Staines imposed a fine of €300 and disqualified her from driving for three years.
