Declan Hogan chasing Niall McNamee

4: Left corner back – Ciaran Burke (Durrow)
One of the toughest calls on this team was between Ciaran Burke and Paul McConway. McConway may be in the Winter of his long career but he was rock steady in the Tullamore defence and scarcely put a foot wrong. You could very comfortably pick him and stand over the decision but Ciaran Burke just makes it. The Offaly senior hurler showed the potential he also has in football. He is an old fashioned type defender – tough, physical and he doesn't suffer fools easily. Burke was very consistent in the Durrow defence, stuck to Niall McNamee like glue in the semi-final and was a major factor in his side's success story. Ferbane's Shane Nally was also considered for this position.
