Offaly people told to be on alert over Revenue scam

Offaly people are being warned over a Revenue scam after it was spotted in the south of the county and in Tipperary in recent days.

Gardaí in the Nenagh and Roscrea are investigating a Revenue scam whereby the caller states they are working for Revenue and seeks immediate payment of a tax bill over the phone.

The caller is tricked into providing their credit card details and monies are removed from their account.

"These calls are not genuine. We would like to remind you not to provide anyone with your bank account, credit/debit card or PPS details," gardaí warned.

If you receive any suspicious phone calls of this nature, contact your local Garda Station.
