Three Gold Medals and big awards for Offaly as Tidy Towns results announced

Three Offaly towns and villages have picked up Gold Medals and others have picked national awards in this year's Tidy Towns Awards.

Geashill, Tullamore and Birr all picked up Gold Medals with Geashill coming out on top to pick up the County Offaly Award. 

Geashill scored a mark of 396 with Birr coming in second in Offaly with 389 points and Tullamore third with 388. 

Clonbollogue picked up a Silver Medal with a score of 385 marks while Kilcormac picked up the Endeavour Award. 

Carrick-on-Shannon won the overall National Award with a score of 400 marks.

In other awards for Offaly Tidy Towns groups, Crinkill Tidy Village was the Runner Up in the Climate Action Award and they also picked up the Midlands and East Regional Award for their Pollinator Plan. 

Ballycumber won an award for their Bat Mural while Clara Tidy Towns came third nationally in the Town Centre First category.

The full scores for all the Tidy Towns entries in Offaly are as follows.

Category A

  • Shannonbridge - 327
  • Ballyboy - 324
  • Horseleap - 287

Category D

  • Birr - 389 - County Second & Gold Medal
  • Clara - 275

Category E

Category G

  • Tullamore - 388 - County Third & Gold Medal
