Shane Lowry moves up in World Golf Rankings after strong finish at Cognizant Classic
Shane Lowry has moved up to 17th in the Official World Golf Rankings after a strong finish at the Cognizant Classic on Sunday.
The Offaly golfer moved up 24 places on the leaderboard to 11th on Sunday after carding a final round of four under par.
He started with rounds of 66 and 68 but fell back from the pace after a one under par round of 70 on Saturday before moving back to the cusp of the top ten on Sunday.
The tournament was won by Joe Highsmith who remarkably shot back to back rounds of seven under par on Saturday and Sunday after just making the cut on Friday evening.
Shane Lowry is also inside the Top 20 on the FedEx Cup on the PGA Tour where he is currently 18th and he is currently fifth in the European Ryder Cup Rankings with the top six in August automatically making the team.
He will be back in action this week at the prestigious Arnold Palmer invitational at the Bay Hill Golf Club.
