Gardaí say an intoxicated motorist was chased by gardaí before abandoning their car and trying to escape on foot.
Laois Roads Policing Unit say they were alerted to this vehicle in Portlaoise on Wednesday after an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) alert for no insurance.
According to gardai, the vehicle failed to stop but after a short pursuit the driver abandoned the vehicle. The driver was arrested following a foot chase and found to be intoxicated, uninsured and disqualified from driving.
The vehicle was seized and driver has been charged with multiple offences, gardaí added.
