'Easier get tickets to Bruce Springsteen' - Offaly fans fume at scramble for U20 clash tickets

Offaly hurling fans are fuming as the scramble to get tickets to Saturday's long-awaited U20 All-Ireland Hurling Championship Final went awry.

Tickets went on sale shortly before 3pm this Monday, and in less than ten minutes, the Ticketmaster site appeared to crash due to the volume of fans trying to buy entry to the upcoming clash.

In a statement, Ticketmaster however said the site had not crashed and that tickets had sold out. Offaly GAA said that there were only 14,000 tickets sold and urged supporters to be patient. As of 6.30pm, there still appears to be no tickets available from Ticketmaster.

Set to be played in UPMC Nowlan Park on Saturday evening at 7.15pm, this game was expected to be a sell-out with clubs of the participating counties given a small allocation, while the majority of the tickets for the 27,000 capacity Kilkenny venue were being sold to the general public.

Fans are sharing their frustrations online, with one disgruntled supporter saying: "It was easier get tickets for Bruce Springsteen."

Another supporter said: "They put it in a field that's not even half the size it should be for such a game."
