FERBANE'S Gallen Community School had a great win in the Leinster Colleges Junior “D” football final on Monday, beating St Paul's College of Monastervan by 4-14 to 1-3.
A great second half display from Gallen who scored 3-4 to no reply was instrumental in helping them over the line in O’Brien Park,Tullamore.
A tight first half where Gallen played with the aid of a strong breeze left the score at 1-9 to 1-3. Ruairi Woods scored the important early goal.
Gallen started the second half with a renewed energy and mindset which saw Ruairi Woods net his second from the penalty spot and then further goals form raiding defenders Keelin Dunican and Luke Fitzgerald sealed the win.
These goals added to some wonderful point taking left the final score line at 4-14 to 1-3. Luke Fitzgerald stepped forward to receive the trophy on behalf of a very committed and talented panel of players.
