Charges struck out against man who told Garda in Tullamore to 'f*** off'
A GARDA was told to f*** off during an incident in Tullamore, a recent sitting of the town's District Court was told.
The defending solicitor Donal Farrelly told the Judge that his client was pleading guilty to two public order charges.
The defendant was John Brady, Corraweelis, Carrickaboy, Co. Cavan, and he was charged with threatening behaviour and being intoxicated in public on Patrick Street, Tullamore on October 26 2023.
Sergeant Brendan Kearns told the court that the Garda saw Mr Kearns on Patrick Street walking in an unsteady fashion and when he approached the defendant he was sworn at. The Sergeant added that Mr Brady had no previous convictions.
Mr Farrelly said his client works as a driver for DPD.
“He was socialising with a relative in Tullamore on this particular evening and unfortunately had too much to drink.”
Mr Brady is 32 years of age and the solicitor presented a letter from his employer attesting to his good character.
Judge Andrew Cody ordered a payment of €500 to Tullamore Lions Club and struck out both charges.
