7 – Left half back: Dara Maher (Shinrone)
There were no shortage of contenders on the half back line. Matthew Maloney had a very good year for St Rynagh's and you can make a case for Shinrone's Michael Cleary and Birr's Brian Watkins and Barry Harding, Coolderry's David King but Shinrone's Dara Maher is well worth his place. He had a very good year and as well as defending well, he also got forward when that opportunity arose. He didn't have his best game in the final but he had plenty of Shinrone company that day and deserves credit for digging in even when the game was well beyond reach. A young player with a good attitude and obvious desire, his displays over the campaign make him a worthy choice.
