4 – Left corner back: Brecon Kavanagh (Kilcormac-Killoughey)
A few contenders here but we are going with a first season Kilcormac-Killoughey player, Brecon Kavanagh. The introduction of Kavanagh and Adam Screeney from minor ranks certainly provided two of the missing ingredients that enabled Kilcormac-Killoughey to turn around from losing a county final last year to winning one this year. As good a prospect as anyone from the Offaly minor and U-20 sides in the past two years, he was a great addition to the K-K defence and a great example of a defender doing his basic job first and marking a man. Despite his tender years, he was often given the responsibility of marking the opposition's danger man on occasion while he also prospered when moved up the field during games, contributing a couple of scores.
The St Rynagh's duo of Stephen Wynne and Simon Og Lyons were considered. Lyons looked good on the ball while Wynne is another player who will just go out and mark his man, not really caring how much ball he touches. He is very effective at this and no forward in Offaly relishes being marked by him.
