Gardaí injured in Roscrea tackling stolen car

The Gardaí required medical attention but did not suffer serious injuries

Two Gardaí were injured performing their duties in Roscrea over the weekend when they attempted to apprehend the occupants of a stolen car.

The injured Gardaí, both men who are said to have not suffered any serious injuries, approached the stolen vehicle at a checkpoint on the Birr Road (N62) in Roscrea at approximately 10:30pm on Saturday night.

The driver of the stolen vehicle rammed the Garda patrol car before fleeing the scene at high speed.

A man was apprehended in relation to the incident and was detained at Nenagh Garda Station. He will appear in Limerick court this week on a number of offences.
