Polaris - Cavan Nose

Named after the North Star, Polaris is a 7-month-old white Border Collie who was born deaf. Being deaf does not hold her back, she is just like any other puppy. She loves food, playing with toys and being the centre of attention!!

Polaris was adopted from Galway SPCA in March who hand-reared Polaris and her siblings since they were 2 weeks old after being rejected by their mother. She is a very social puppy who loves people and dogs.

Polaris is being trained with hand signals rather than verbal commands. She is very smart and is learning quickly. All the local kids are fascinated by her and give Polaris a thumbs up when they see her, thumbs up is her signal for 'good girl'.

Polaris would make a great Nose of Tralee as she is proof that dogs with disabilities, who are often overlooked, make great pets.

Should Polaris be fortunate enough to win, the prize will be donated to Cavan SPCA and Galway SPCA.
