Two-year ban imposed on man at Tullamore District Court for drug driving

A MAN was found to be three times over the specified limit for cocaine after being stopped in Birr last year.

Michael Seguin (27), Moorepark Street, Birr, admitted drug driving at Green Street in the town on May 29, 2025.

Tullamore District Court heard the man had been prosecuted for both driving with more than the specified levels of both cocaine and cannabis but the charge arising from the second drug was withdrawn by the prosecution.

Sergeant Brendan Kearns said Mr Seguin had been stopped at 7.42am driving a Clare registered vehicle and tested positive after a specimen of blood was taken.

Sergeant Kearns added that Mr Seguin had previously been disqualified for three years for a drink-driving offence in 2020.

The man's solicitor, Patrick Martin, said his client no longer used drugs and while he was not currently working he normally was in employment.

Judge Andrew Cody imposed a two-year driving ban along with a fine of €100.
