Three-year ban imposed for man who had excess alcohol in his blood in Tullamore

A DRINK-driver did not indicate at a roundabout and swerved on the road, Tullamore District Court was told.

Sergeant Brendan Kearns was referring to the driving of Dmytro Stashkevych (29), Clonminch, Tullamore, who pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol in his blood at Kilcruttin in Tullamore on November 5, 2024.

Sergeant Kearns said the alcohol reading in Mr Stashkevych's case was 228 milligrammes per 100 millilitres of blood.

Judge Andrew Cody was told a prosecution for careless driving was withdrawn.

A plea of guilty was entered on the man's behalf by David Nugent, BL, who said he was a father of two who worked as a general operative.

Judge Cody imposed a three-year driving ban and on the request of Mr Stashkevych, postponed it until December 1 next. He also imposed a €100 fine. Mr Stashkevych was on legal aid.
