Fines of €900 imposed at Tullamore District Court on father of two who's been in Ireland for four years

TULLAMORE District Court heard a Brazilian man used a Portuguese driving licence because he thought he was permitted to do so.

Solicitor Patrick Martin said that Anderson De Oliveira Domingos (36), Ashfield House, Cusack Road, Ennis, Co Clare had completed a theory test for an Irish licence and had a Brazilian licence.

However, he needed another residency permit and it had not issued. A married father of four, he worked in painting, had been in Ireland for four years and was pleading guilty to a number of offences committed on August 27 last year on the N52 road at Ballykilmore, Tyrrellspass, including uninsured driving and using a false driving licence.

Mr Martin said there was a motor insurance policy but the licence wasn't in order.

Judge Andrew Cody imposed three fines of €300 each and disqualified the man from driving for two years.
