RTE Late Late Show viewers were in tears at points during Friday night's episode after a number of emotional segments, while others were left switching off.

Host Patrick Kielty welcomed the likes of comedians and actresses Amy Huberman and Deirdre O'Kane, politician Ivana Bacik and athlete and recent World Athletics Indoor medallist Kate O'Connor to the sofa.

During the chat with Kate, who is trained by her dad Michael, viewers were left welling up when her dad spoke from the audience. RTE's social channels described it as a "proud dad moment" as he spoke about Kate's talents and personal drive.

"She's an exceptional talent, just a star," he said of his daughter who won a silver medal in the pentathlon at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China recently.

He added: "I don't tell her this but I'll tell you now; the joy I get down on the track working with somebody like that, she's a dream."

Viewers were quick to comment on the sweet moment with one saying, "beautiful, we should tell each other these things everyday."

Another wrote: "Ah Jesus, I’m crying into me cupàn tae."

Elsewhere, the show remember the late Mick O'Dwyer, legendary former Kerry footballer and football manager after his death during the week.

RTE commentator Marty Morrissey said "every county loved Micko", adding, "he brought a smile and a love of football to all of us."

During a chat with Amy Huberman and Deirdre O'Kane, Amy told a funny story about a gift her mother bought her recently. She said her mum has an ability to buy her things she didn't know existed or she needed.

She said: "She came over one day and said 'I have the perfect thing for you, it shaves ball,' Amy laughed, before finishing, 'off your jumper.'"

Amy added: "It's great it works," as viewers reacted. One described Amy as "naturally witty" while another felt the story was "rehearsed."

Another said: "My daughter met Amy a few years ago and she was just so nice to her, stunning girl."

Ivana Bacik and singer Ryan McMullan were among the other guests. Some viewers were quick to criticise the show and guests, saying they were switching off.

One wrote: "I'd rather watch paint dry," while a second added, "open with a few pathetic Trump jokes and bring on Ivana Bacik as your first guest. Time for a bit of Netflix."
