Having obliterated the field in the Amgen Irish Open 2026 Shane Lowry didn’t miss the opportunity to get a selfie with Donald Trump after he presented him with the trophy.

The Offaly man received the trophy from the US President who is the owner of the Doonbeg Golf Course, where the tournament was staged.

And after the formal presentation, Lowry took the opportunity to get a selfie with the US President.

The Offaly golfer paid an emotional tribute to his wife and family earlier, who weren’t with him as they were at home in Florida. He looked forward to finally bringing a trophy home to his daughters, after some near-misses in recent years.

His father Brendan, an All-Ireland winner in 1982, wasn’t present for the final day as he was on duty with Clara for whom he is a selector.

Shane told RTÉ that it was “a bit mad” to have had a handshake from the US President before driving off from the first tee on Sunday morning.

“Obviously, it’s his course and Doonbeg itself has been incredible all week... I think the crowd down here and the way people come out to support the home players is incredible,” Shane said.

Speaking of Donald Trump, he said: “It’s pretty cool what he does for this community and I think we all repaid him back this week”.
