An Offaly school had the honour of performing Amhrán na bhFiann as the National Ploughing Championships got underway in the county on Tuesday morning.
The Sacred Heart School and Tullamore Choir and Trad Group were joined by singing garda Sean O'Mahony to perform the national anthem as the National Ploughing Championships were officially opened.
The performance was an emotional one for the Sacred Heart students who were recently hit with the news of the sudden death of one of their teachers Nigel Brennan.
Nigel passed away earlier this month and, as a Tullamore native, had taught at the school for many years.
The school joined the other performers on the main bandstand for the rousing rendition of the anthem.
