Brilliant Lowry continues charge towards second Irish Open win

Clara man in control of tournament heading into final round
A FLYING Shane Lowry continued his march towards a second Irish Open title with a third sensational round at Doonbeg on Saturday.
He followed up Thursday's -3 67, Friday's course record -8 62 with a blistering -5 65 on Saturday. It means he is in complete control of the tournament as he chases a big win that will rescue a stuttering season.
A win in his home open on home turf would mean so much to the Offaly man – he won the Irish Open as an amateur in Baltray in 2009, turning professional after it, embarking on a sensational career that included major success and world wide stardom.
He once again produced near flawless golf on Saturday with six birdies and just one bogey, a five on the fifth. It means that he is four shots clear of the field on -16 with Jacob Skov Olesen his nearest competitor on -12.
Joachin Niemann is the next on -9 and then there is a gap to a couple on -7. Olesen appears to be his only real threat and it is very much Lowry's tournament to lose but anything can happen in golf and after some agonising near misses early in the season, he won't be preparing his victory speech yet.
He tees off at 2.05pm on Sunday.
