Kinnitty stay up as fixtures released for big hurling games

Great hurling double bills for Tullamore and Birr
A RELIEVED Kinnitty retained their Offaly Senior Hurling Championship when they got the better of Lusmagh in the relegation play off in Birr on Sunday.
Kinnitty got on top coming up to half time and always looked like winning in the second half. They eventually won by 0-18 to 0-12, meaning that Lusmagh go straight back down after winning senior “B” last year.
It was a big weekend in the hurling championships. Belmont and St Rynagh's had great wins over Birr and Shinrone to qualify for the Senior Hurling Championship semi-finals where Belmont will meet Ballinamere and St Rynagh's face four in a row seeking Kilcormac-Killoughey.
Clodiagh Gaels turned in a fine second half to defeat Clara in the Senior “B” Hurling Championship semi-final. The other semi-final between Kilcormac-Killoughey and Seir Kieran was postponed because of the death of Carolyn Quinn, mother of K-K senior B hurler Conor and senior stalwart Jordan.
That game has been refixed for next Saturday, September 26 in Birr and has resulted in the postponement of the U20 Hurling Championship final between Kilcormac-Killoughey and Shinrone/Ballyskenach-Killavilla. It has been refixed for Saturday, October 10 in Birr at 2pm.
In the Intermediate Hurling Championship semi-finals, Seir Kieran had a dramatic extra time win over Shinrone and Shamrocks ran away from Coolderry in the second half.
The draw for the Junior Hurling Championship took place in O'Connor Park on Sunday, pairing Tullamore v Clodiagh Gaels and Ballyskenach-Killavilla v St Rynagh's.
The fixtures have been released for those big hurling games with very attractive double bills in O'Connor Park, Tullamore and Birr on Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4
