In advance of the upcoming Bog Trotters Festival, children from St. Francis National School and St. Brigid’s National School in Clara participated in an art competition, creating imaginative drawings inspired by the Bog Café.
The artworks will be proudly displayed at the Bog Café throughout the Bog Trotters Festival, giving visitors an opportunity to enjoy the creativity and talent of the young artists.
Renowned artist Vincent Devine was invited to judge the competition and remarked on the exceptionally high standard of entries. He said that selecting the winners was extremely difficult due to the quality and originality of the artwork submitted.
"It is hard to believe that such amazing work was created by such young children," Vincent commented. "The standard was outstanding, and both schools should be congratulated for encouraging and promoting art among their pupils."
The winners of the competition will receive prizes kindly donated by the Clara Heritage Society.
Clara Heritage Society would like to extend its sincere thanks to St. Francis National School and St. Brigid’s National School for their enthusiastic participation. The Society also wishes to thank all of the children who took part in the competition.
"It was a joy to see the level of interest, imagination, and creativity shown by the children. Their artwork is a wonderful contribution to the festival and reflects the strong connection between our young people and the local bog landscape."
The Society looks forward to welcoming visitors to the Bog Café during the Bog Trotters Festival, where the children's artwork will be on display for all to enjoy and were live music will be performed all day to entertain attendees while they enjoy food from “Island Farm Foods”.
