Members of the Tullamore St Patrick's Day parade committee prepare for the big day
The Tullamore St. Patrick's Day parade committee is encouraging members of all nationalities to take part in the St. Patrick's Day p[arade.
"Everyone is welcome and encouraged to take part in the parade. There are many different nationalities living in Tullamore and we would welcome their contribution to the Parade. Groups could march in their national costumes, display something which signifies their country or perform a dance routine. These groups are part of our community and our theme this year is "Community Spirit", outlined Cllr Sean O' Brien, Parade Secretary.
"We would like to see as much music and dance as possible in this year's Parade. A number of groups have already indicated that they will take part and we are encouraging other musical groups or individuals to come forward. Musical performances can be either marching in the Parade or be part of a float. The more the merrier"
"As usual there will be many excellent prizes for the winners in a number of categories. These will be presented at a gala event after the Parade. Categories include Sport, Youth, Community, Schools, Business, Most Entertaining, Best Dressed Dog, Best Window Display, Best Band"
Letters have been sent to organisations and businesses and more will be sent over the coming days.
