Kearney’s Drive in Tullamore Co Offaly, which is managed by Oaklee, was named the winner in the Medium Family Housing category at the ICSH Community Housing Awards 2025

A TULLAMORE development has won a national prize at the Irish Council for Social Housing Community Housing Awards 2025. Kearney’s Drive, which is managed by Oaklee, topped the Medium Family Housing Project category at the ceremony at the Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan.

Sponsored by IPB Insurance, the awards are a platform to show the innovation and sustainability in public housing projects supported by approved housing bodies (AHBs), local authorities and the Land Development Agency in communities all over Ireland.

Kearney’s Drive, is a general-needs, family housing scheme of 41 homes. It has created a sustainable community and ideal tenure mix with a balance of single people, couples, elderly and different family sizes. There is a landscaped play area, ideal for children, with a designated play zone for smaller children and a running track. Many of the houses look directly onto it and have sheltered inbuilt seating at the front entrance door, encouraging neighbourly interaction and facilitating passive surveillance of children at play.

Chief Executive of the Irish Council for Social Housing Donal McManus has congratulated all those involved in the awards: “The list of entries this year paints a fantastic picture of the commitment, creativity and skills at work in Ireland’s local authorities, housing associations and Land Development Agency. It’s a wonderful showcase of the progress made since our last awards in 2023 - in particular when it comes to supporting vulnerable groups such as older people and those with a disability. I’d like to thank everyone on our team and our colleagues in AHBs around the country for their work in making this year’s awards such a success”.

IPB Insurance sponsored the awards and its Chairman John Hogan says “Being part of the Community Housing Awards 2025 has been truly inspirational. It’s been a privilege to learn so much about the people behind the developments and how the various stakeholders come together to deliver much-needed homes around Ireland. I’d like to congratulate everyone involved in the awards, and the ICSH team for delivering a wonderful programme”.
