New prosecution counsel for Offaly

Roscommon native takes up duty at Tullamore Circuit Court

A NEW prosecution counsel for Offaly was in the Circuit Criminal Court in Tullamore for the first time today (Tuesday, October 7).

Shane Geraghty, BL, a native of Portrunny, Co Roscommon, has taken up the post after his predecessor Kevin White was named as a senior counsel.

Mr Geraghty, a resident of Offaly, had been working as the prosecutor in Co Longford before this latest appointment.

He acts for the State in the county, instructed by county State Solicitor, Sandra Mahon.

Mr Geraghty was welcomed and wished the best by Judge Sinead McMullan when the Circuit Court in Tullamore began its session this morning.

He is a past pupil of Marist, Athlone and later studied at UCD and Kings Inns. He became a junior counsel in 2005.
