The boardwalk remains closed in Clara for maintenance works. But it is due to open in the next few weeks
The Clara Bog boardwalk, closed for some time on health and safety grounds, is expected to reopen in the next few weeks.
A favourite spot for walkers seeking fresh air and quiet, the boardwalk offers the chance to spot sundews, bog asphodel, sphagnum mosses, cottongrass and bog bean, as well as dragonflies darting past and the calls of curlew and snipe. While some repair work has been undertaken on some parts, other sections of the walkway still show the wear of rotting wood.

In the meantime, the visitor centre remains open. Packed with fascinating displays, from detailed information panels to mounted animals and even spiders. Well worth a call in.
