Status yellow warning for Offaly as thunderstorms likely

A status yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for Offaly by Met Eireann.

Offaly along with Clare, Kerry, Limerick and Galway will experience heavy spells of rain with thunderstorms possible.

Met Eireann say the potential impacts include

• Surface water flooding
• Lightning damage
• Difficult travelling conditions

The warning is valid from 7pm this evening July 14, 2025 to 7am Tuesday July 15, 2025.

Offaly along with the rest of the country has been basking in sunshine for the past couple of days with temperatures reaching 30 degrees in some places. However, the temperature dipped today to between 16 to 18 degrees.

Met Eireann is forcasting showers or longer spells of rain tonight, turning heavy and thundery with spot flooding. Further thunderstorms will occur with the potential for lightning damage. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees. Breezy across the southern half of the country with rather fresh southwest winds; just light to moderate variable winds elsewhere.

Tomorrow will see more cloudy weather with further thundery spells of rain early on Tuesday with local thunderstorms. Brightening up from the west through the morning with a mix of sunny spells and showers, with mainly dry conditions developing in the west for the afternoon and extending eastwards in the evening. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees with moderate to fresh northwest winds developing, strong at first near southern coasts.
