TULLAMORE Tidy Towns Association is seeking permission to paint a mural on the side/gable wall of an existing dwelling in Tullamore.

The building is located at Bury Quay. Chair of the association Councillor Shane Murray says ''we painted the wall last year, but with the work on the bridge complete it's looking a bit tired again. The mural will depict various landmarks around the town. The artist will be local and has already been chosen.''

The application with Offaly County Council is at pre-validation stage and a date of August 18 has been given by the council for a decision.

The town already has a mural in the Market Square. This fantastic mural is a salute to the Fair Days held in the square in the 60's. It was painted by local artist Ian O'Shea.
