A HOUSING development is about to start close to the Offaly border.

Fifteen houses will be built on the Castlelost Road, Rochfortbridge, Co Westmeath, with commencement scheduled for Wednesday, July 2 next.

Along with one three-bedroom detached cottage, there will be 14 terraced houses in a mix of two and three-bedroom units.

The housing scheme is across the road from a primary school and GAA club.

The area is convenient to the M6 motorway and Rhode village.

Planning permission was granted by An Bord Pleanala (now knowns as An Coimisiun Pleanala) in December 2023.
