Offaly community alert group hosts session to deter theft of property

RAHAN

Rahan Coimmunity Alert holds its AGM on Saturday, November 4 next

Rahan Community Alert will hold a session on Saturday, November 4 at Rahan Community Hall from 10am until 2 pm to indent the Eircode on domestic property for the community. They regret we cannot mark glass, jewellery or antiques and only the casings on electronic devices can be marked.

This initiative, with the support of the Gardai and Offaly County Council, is aimed at deterring theft of property and also allowing the swift return of any property recovered by the Gardai to the rightful owner. The Community Gardai will be in attendance to offer security advice.

Rahan Community Alert continues to support the community in many ways on a day to day basis by supplying free Carbon Monoxide alarms courtesy of Muinter na Tire; by securing personal alarms for the elderly through helping with the application process and liaising with the suppliers to ensure a stress free process for the applicant; by supplying the ‘’Bottle in a Fridge” to inform the emergency services of the type of medication they are taking.

They also send out text messages to the community, when requested by the Gardai, to assist in detecting and protecting our community from crime.

The committee continue to work hard on the application for the installation of CCTV cameras in the parish to assist the Gardai in solving crime and unsocial behaviour. This process is subject to legislation been introduced by Government.

The AGM will take place at 12 noon in Rahan Community Hall also on November 4.
