Offaly County Council funding available with emphasis on markets projects
OFFALY County Council is seeking expressions of interest for a range of potential projects which may be considered for funding under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
This year there will be a special emphasis on markets including town or village centre markets, farmers markets, open-air markets, local trader markets, artisan markets or similar.
The popularity of such markets has been steadily increasing over recent years, as consumers become more attuned to the value of fresh, locally sourced produce and unique handmade crafts.
It is also an opportunity for locals to engage and build relationships with local producers.
The maximum level of grant funding available is €500,000 in respect of one application from each Local Authority. A maximum of €250,000 will apply in respect of 4 applications.
The purpose of the Town and Village Renewal scheme is to revitalise rural Ireland. The 2023 scheme
will emphasise;
* Investment in infrastructure to support town and village centre markets;
* Bringing vacant and derelict buildings back into use a multi-purpose
community spaces, or to address remote working needs.
* Investing in the development of parks, green spaces and recreational
amenities in town centres;
* A new option to allow local authorities to acquire plots of land to enable
development of town regeneration, such as town parks, plazas etc;
* Refurbishment of existing community centres.
