Ninety houses and 58 apartments planned by Tullamore development company

TULLAMORE developer John Flanagan Developments Ltd have confirmed they are seeking planning permission for a 148-unit residential development on Tyrrells Road in Tullamore.
The project will comprise 90 houses and 58 apartments.
The scheme of houses will include 24 four-bed semi-detached houses, 57 three-bed semi-detached houses along with one three-bed detached house and eight two-bed terraced houses.
Two apartment blocks will comprise 32 one-bed and 26 two-bed apartments. One block will be specifically designed for the elderly and the developers say it will be the first of its kind in the town of Tullamore.
“The apartments are designed for the elderly and are much sought after as they provide a safe and secure environment within the confines of independent living,” a statement from the developer said.
According to the planning notice published in the Tribune the apartments blocks will be four storeys high. There is also a creche and pumping station included in the plan.
The main vehicular entrance will be from Tyrrells Road with a pedestrian bicycle entrance from Thornsbury estate.
“The entrance to the development is located within a short stroll of 800m to the centre of Tullamore, a bustling vibrant town, offering all the conveniences of modern living. The houses will come at an opportune time to the market with local demand exceeding supply,” said the developer.
The housing site will involve the demolition of the old Glenwood factory, which will be the location of the new main entrance to the housing development.
Wellwood residential is a four-hectare site that adjoins the Wellwood Healthpark site where planning permission has been granted for a 99-bed hospital.
The proposed residential scheme will back onto Thornsbury, Harbour Walk and Harbour Drive.
