5: Right half back – Shane Kinsella (Kinnitty)Shane Kinsella's selection may appear a little bit from the left field as Kinnitty had to survive a relegation play off but his performances were so good that the team just wouldn't look right without him on it. Playing mainly at the heart of defence, the former Offaly player was so crucial to Kinnitty staying up and there was a reliance on him for inspiration that none of the teams at the business end of the championship had on any one individual.

6: Centre half back – Killian Sampson (Shinrone)Killian Sampson was one of the first names pencilled in on this team. He was a revelation for Shinrone, inspiring them with his brilliance and striding forward into attack. One of the best hurlers in Offaly, his performances often took the breath away. Cillian Kiely missed most of the group games for K-K and while he finished the season well, he will be the first to admit that Sampson has to be the centre half back.

7: Left half back – Ross Ravenhill (Ballinamere)It was a very disappointing year for Ballinamere as they failed to build on reaching the county final in 2024. They went out tamely against Kilcormac-Killoughey in the quarter-final, were beaten by Coolderry and Birr in the group and their only wins were against Seir Kieran and Tullamore. They took a definite step back in 2025 and could have no complaints if they didn't have a representative on this team but Ross Ravenhill was definitely one of the best players in the club championship and makes the cut entirely on merit. Playing mainly at centre half back, he was superbly efficient, doing a lot of the unseen work that is his hallmark, putting in the hard yards and hits from his own full back line up to the half forward zone. A quiet unassuming player, Dara Maher impressed for Shinrone with a series of very tidy, hard working displays and was very close to making it. He was at his best when mopping up loose and breaking ball, his distribution was good and he did the simple thing effectively. K-K's Enda Grogan and Ballinamere's Sam Bourke were considered.

8: Midfield – Colm Mulrooney (Birr)Next year will be the litmus test for them but Birr certainly impressed as they re-emerged from the pack into genuine title contenders. They played some of the best hurling in the championship and almost took out Kilcormac-Killoughey in the semi-final. Birr had a lot of players who played at a good level and Colm Mulrooney was one of their main men. He was a wing back initially and then went to midfield when Birr ended the experiment of playing Ben Miller in attack. He was excellent at times out here, man of the match and scoring four points in their group win over Ballinamere – and matching that four point haul in another very good display in the loss to K-K.Damien Kilmartin was very close to making it. He has been one of the great force of natures on the Offaly club hurling scene in the past twenty years and he continues to defy the odds. He had a serious county final and he inspires his team mates with his work ethic. Colin Spain also did a lot of very good work for K-K and when he was on form, he was excellent.
