Offaly Athletics 5k road race series up and running
Great competition at popular races
The 2026 Healthy Offaly 5K Series has made an impressive start, with three races already completed and shaping up to be a highly competitive and well-supported series. With five races still to come over the summer months, there remains plenty of opportunity for athletes of all abilities to compete for both overall and age-category honours.
The series got underway on March 8th, hosted by Tullamore Harriers AC, attracting an excellent turnout of 506 participants. This was followed by an even larger field of 581 runners at the Banagher AC event on March 22nd. Most recently, Rhode AC hosted the third race in the series last weekend, welcoming 380 runners to their 5K.
Participation levels across all three events have been extremely encouraging, with athletes travelling not only from clubs across Offaly but also from further afield. These strong numbers point towards the potential for record overall participation in this year’s series.
With five races remaining, the competition is expected to intensify as the series progresses.
Best of luck to the remaining host clubs as they prepare to stage their events over the coming months.
