Mark Hogan receiving his trophy.
A TULLAMORE man has won a big national pitch and putt title. Tullamore Pitch and Club member, Mark Hogan captured the Intermediate National Matchplay Championship in Tullamore and Erry last weekend.
It was a magnificent achievement by Mark who won four tough 36 hole matches on Saturday and Sunday in Tullamore before travelling the short distance to Erry in Clara for the the semi final and finals in Erry.
Mark played some fantastic stuff over the 3 days, beating Noel Stapleton from Lakeside, Tipperary on the final hole in a very tight game that had plenty of drama, In the Ladies championship, Amy Galvin of Tullamore came up agonisingly short in the final to the magnificent Chrissie Sheedy. Amy performed brilliantly over the two days in Erry and showed all the qualities that helped her win the title in 2024. It was a fantastic defence of her title and there is no doubt Amy will win many more over the coming years.

A special mention to Anthony Galvin who was exceptional over the 3 days in Erry and came up just short to the eventual winner Kieran Earls in the semi finals. Anthony lost on the 36th hole in a high quality game that could have gone either way. A well deserved bronze medal and automatic entry into the 2026 competition is his reward for a great weekend.
