A 14-year-old boy has been left fighting for his life following a serious assault in Tipperary town last night.
The teen received serious head injuries in the incident and is believed to be in a critical condition in South Tipperary General Hospital.
The alleged assault occurred in the Lakelands, Rosanna area of Tipperary town just before 11pm last night. The area has since been sealed off and a forensic examination is taking place.
Tipperary town Gardai have arrested a young man in his teens in connection with the incident. The juvenile is being detained at Tipperary town Garda station this morning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice act.
The investigation into the assault is being led by Detective Inspector Paddy O'Callaghan.
Gardai in Tipperary town are appealing to anyone who may have any information in relation to the incident or who may have witnessed anything unusual or suspicious in the Lakelands/Rosanna Road area between 10.30pm and 11.30pm last night to contact them on 062 80670.
