RIP: Community mourns as woman, 80s, killed in fatal collision in Cavan named locally

The woman who sadly passed away following the fatal road traffic incident in County Cavan on Tuesday afternoon, 7 October has been named locally as Anna Brady (née Kiernan).

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the crash near Crosskeys in Cavan on Tuesday afternoon. The collision, which involved two cars, occurred on a local road in Carrickatober at approximately 3:30pm.

Gardaí confirmed that one of the drivers, a woman in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was removed to the morgue at Cavan General Hospital where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.

The other driver, a woman in her 40s, was brought to Cavan General Hospital for assessment.

Anna Brady has been named as the driver who died in the collision, to the shock of those in her local community of Kilnacor, Crosskeys, Cavan.

Anna is survived by her husband Bertie, four children, grandchildren and extended family.

Tributes have since poured in online for the Cavan woman who has been described as "a beautiful and caring lady" as well as a "truly wonderful person."

No funeral arrangements have been announced yet.

Gardaí have since appealed for witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera or dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 3:00pm and 3:30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
