The NUI Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome was destroyed as Storm Éowyn arrived in full force, late last night and into this morning.
Thousands in Mayo are experiencing no power, on top of the unprecedented damage left by the storm, which is showing no signs of slowing down yet.
The NUI Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome was the first of many casualties reported in the county, as the record-breaking winds ripped through the inflated roof which completely destroyed the structure.
The muti-million euro facility, located in Bekan, near Ballyhaunis, opened just five years ago, in 2020.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport, John Prenty, the Connacht GAA secretary, said, "We have been unable to get out to the site to assess the damage as the winds are too high." Currently, their plan is to tidy up the site within the next week, and rebuild it.
The National Frisbee Championship, which were due to take place in the Air Dome tomorrow, have now been cancelled.
