The flying teddies don't make Birr event but the show goes on!

ON Saturday 20th September, three airmen landed at Birr Airfield to undertake a special sortie, originally planned as part of the Teddy Bears Picnic Fly-In. With Met Éireann forecasting torrential rain throughout the week, they had made the difficult decision on Thursday to cancel the event.
In place of the Fly-In, an air-to-air formation flight was carried out by Gerry Humphreys in EI-HUM (the Flying Cow) and Eddie Goggins (the Flying Dentist) in his CAP 232.
The flight marked the handover of a 1,000 Euro donation from Millennium Aviation Event Solutions to support LauraLynn Childrens Hospice and Dogs Trust Ireland. The cheque was formally presented to Capt Paddy & Luckys carer Jason Phelan.
While the organisers were deeply disappointed to cancel the Fly-In after so much preparation, they were extremely grateful to those who took part in this special flight and for the generous contribution made to two of Ireland's leading charities.
“Our total now stands at a pawsum 13,000 Euros,” said Jason Phelan of Aviation Ireland. “On behalf of the entire team and myself, we'd like to thank you all for your hard work. Sè Pardy, Pat Lanigan, Colm Wright and our two pilots you've earned a well-deserved spot on Capt Paddy & Lucky's superstar list!”
