Cistercian College Roscrea student Billy Hayes
Sixth-Year student Billy Hayes of Cistercian College has been recognised with the Tipperary County Council Municipal District Award, acknowledging his outstanding contribution to rugby and his exemplary sportsmanship throughout his playing career to date.
Nominated by Councillor Michael Smith, Hayes was praised for his unwavering dedication to the sport, which began in his early years with Roscrea RFC.
His rugby journey has seen him rise through the ranks, captaining both the Junior and Senior Cup teams at Cistercian College, progressing to play with Munster Rugby, and most recently earning a place on the Irsh Rugby squad.

Staff at Cistercian College described Hayes as a student who "embodies all of the qualities that a true sportsman should have," and said the school community was immensely proud of his achievements.
With national recognition now under his belt, Hayes’ rugby career is one that many will be watching with great anticipation.
