The issue of dark spots in Roscrea's public lighting was raised at the monthly meeting of the Municipal Council, where several lamps in and around the town centre need attention for replacement bulbs and maintenance.

Roscrea's town park, Glebe Park, is particularly affected, Councillor Shane Lee told the meeting, which he said has “only a couple of lights left working” and needs to be rectified soon for safety and as a deterrent to anti-social behaviour.

Anti-social behaviour over the Halloween period has also led to the requirement of public lights in a portion of Kennedy Park and Cllr Lee also pointed out that several public lights on Convent Hill are not working for several months and is in darkness for pedestrians.
