CARRIG Tidy Towns Group wish to invite you to an information and consultation meeting in Carrig & Riverstown Community Hall, on Friday October 11th 2024 at 8pm.

The purpose of the meeting is to present the proposed development of the ‘green area’ located in the centre of the village, into Carrig Community Park. A presentation by local Landscape Architect Mark McDowell, who has supported the group in the development of the plan to date, will outline the proposed development in detail (subject to planning and budgetary constraints).

The vision for the community space includes the construction of a pedestrian bridge over the Carrig river to enhance accessibility, a meandering path through the green space for walking, enhance picnic areas, nature play area, biodiversity friendly planting, community orchard and an enhanced car parking area.

They would urge you to attend this meeting so you are aware of what is being proposed.

This is a great opportunity to substantially enhance and improve the environment and amenity in the village.

To date they have secured €176,099 of grant aid from the Rural Towns and Villages Renewal Scheme, being one of only 81 projects around the country to qualify for this aid. However, the project can only proceed if they raise a 10% contribution towards the project. Therefore significant fundraising will be required to deliver the project over the next 12 months. New volunteers always welcome and they look forward to seeing you on October 11th.
